Showcase Tribute to Reed Morano, Fusion’s Woman of the Year Opening Night, 7PM-10PM, Cantor Film Center

In this opening night event, the Fusion team curates a showcase dedicated to the career of Reed Morano, featuring a special video introduction from the Woman of the Year herself, film trailers for Skeleton Twins, And So it Goes, and Meadowland, to culminate with a screening of Kill Your Darlings. The night ends with Reed’s cinematography reel and a full festival welcome.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27

Docs-in-the-Works Pitch Competition
3PM-6PM, Tisch 006

Finalists compete for top honors, screen and pitch their work in progress and hear live feedback from top execs from HBO, VICE, Impact Partners, POV, Independent Film Project, and Chicken & Egg Pictures. Award-winning documentary filmmaker and NYU Professor Nilita Vachani hosts.

When the Lights Go Out: Introducing Women in Horror

Meet some of the great directors working today in the horror genre, a male-dominated industry: Mary Harron (American Psycho), Katie Carman-Lehach (Eat Me!), Katt Shea (Poison Ivy), and Jenn Wexler (Slumber Party) with NYU Professor and director Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary) moderating.

Brunch with an Icon: HBO’s Doris Casap 10:00AM-11:15AM,

An intimate brunch discussion with Doris Casap, Senior Vice President of Film Programming for Home Box Office (HBO), responsible for managing the Film Programming group and for the following film acquisition activities: major studio output and library deals and independent film acquisition for HBO and Cinemax.

Go behind the scenes with established web-series creators, actors, and producers who have successfully tackled the internet game with their innovative storytelling and compelling characters. Featuring, Natalia Leite and Alexandra Roxo (Be Here Nowish), Quincy Morris (In Between Men), Jeremy Boxer (Programmer, Vimeo), Emily Davis (Monday Brunch), and Jennifer Treuting  (UCB Comedy Originals). NYU Professor and producer, Christina Dehaven moderates.

Master Class with Woman of the Year Reed Morano, ASC

An all-access affair with critically-acclaimed cinematographer and director Reed Morano, the youngest member to ever be admitted to the prestigious ASC and one of the most creative people behind the camera. Join Reed as she discusses her work at length through a series of short scenes and clips from her work.

Film Fatales: Notes from the Field

NYU alumni and members of the NYC-based female filmmaker collective Film Fatales will share personal experiences in the industry and specific advice for other filmmakers looking to support each other in getting their films made. Enid Zentelis (Bottled Up), Iyabo Boyd (Producer, Sunbelt Express), Jennifer Fox (Beirut), Kim Spurlock (Down in Number 5), and Sasha Gordon (Composer, God of Love) with Leah Meyerhoff (I Believe in Unicorns) as moderator.

Student Competition Screenings & Award Ceremony; Presenting the Woman of the Year
6:30PM – 10PM, Cantor Film Center

Sit back and watch the Fusion Competition Screenings, as we unearth the next generation of storytelling greats in a stunning showcase of work by finalists from NYU Grad and Undergrad Film in all categories. Award ceremony and prize presentations will be made to winners in all categories of competition, and the Woman of the Year Award will be presented to Reed Morano with a special tribute. Showcase to be followed by a networking reception with the industry leaders who have served as judges and festival mentors.
